2026 – 2027 Civic Contributions Guidelines

Civic Contribution Guidelines 2026-2027

The River Oaks Garden Club is turning 100 in 2027!  To commemorate this exciting Centennial birthday, River Oaks Garden Club plans to make a substantial gift to the City of Houston citizens through a major donation to a city park, public venue or outdoor greenspace that is meant to be enjoyed by all.

In anticipation of this planned gift to the City of Houston, River Oaks Garden Club will not be accepting outside grant requests in the upcoming 2026-2027 year. We encourage you to revisit our website in the Spring of 2027 and submit your grant requests for funding in 2028 at that time.

The Guidelines for eligible 501 (c) (3) organizations are as follows:

  • We support local landscape and beautification projects, horticulture awareness, conservation, and educational projects related to horticulture or conservation. Funds are to be spent and accounted for within the year of receipt of said funds, unless otherwise specified.
  • Requests must be in writing and accompanied by a copy of the organization’s tax exemption letter.
  • Priority consideration is given to eligible requests from the Houston area.
  • Private educational institutions may be considered.
  • Church organizations are not eligible.
